Podcast Ep. 10: Simon Clarke, Managing Director, Relationship Manager, at Citi Private Bank

“He (Steve Jobs) said that getting made redundant was actually the best thing for him because he became creative. So what I’m going say is actually when I was the one time I was made redundant. It sounds really, really weird, but it prompted me to actually make a move I’d been considering from investment banking to private banking. So once you get over the original shock and the actual fact that it’s not your fault, it just happened to be in the wrong place for a long time and everything else, it was an incredibly positive step for me.”

In our latest episode, our host Ria Parikh, sat down with Simon Clarke, a managing director of Citi Private Bank, peeling back the layers of leadership philosophies and revealing the strategies behind his success. Starting in an era when emails and mobile phones were non-existent, he witnessed firsthand the technological evolution that has since underpinned the sector’s transformation. At the core of Simon’s leadership philosophy lies a belief in guiding teams through complex environments by fostering a culture of trust, encouragement, and continuous learning.
